I love yoga. As most people I started yoga for the physical benefits. I soon discovered doing yoga on a regular basis makes me feel more relaxed and more comfortable in my body. Nothing like some twists, a sun-salutation and a child’s pose to help relief the back tension from a day sitting in the office.
However when I started attending retreats, joining the Uplifted online community and completing my YTT200 I also encountered the more ‘belief’-based elements of yoga: from ohm to chakras, chanting to self-less action. Meanwhile my yoga teachers would often state yoga is a science and as a physicist this did not rhyme well with me.
So hence this blog – a sceptic’s guide – to help me, and hopefully you, separate fiction from fact about yoga
